The Hamner Institutes for Health Sciences has adopted a systems biology approach to research that facilitates the integration of functional genomics, computational biology, and bioinformatics. In keeping with the systems biology model, The Hamner is developing technology-based research centers that support multiple projects and serve as a focus for external funding. The centers target areas relevant to environmental health issues and will change as new issues emerge.
